Austin Duffy is a Chartered Engineer with over 24 years’ experience in the design, construction and management of civil engineering and building projects in Europe, Middle East, North Africa and the Far East.
Having worked at Director level with both leading international project management firms and design & build contractors, he has extensive experience acting for both client and contractor entities in the delivery of complex design and construction projects across commercial, residential, industrial, power, retail, leisure, healthcare, education and civil engineering sectors within demanding programme and budget constraints, whilst maintaining the highest health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
His experience encompasses project and programme management, design and construction management, design & build contracting, management and general contracting, risk management, value engineering, project and construction management performance matters, delay analysis and dispute resolution.
Austin has particular experience in the MENA marketplace having worked as a Construction Director, responsible for the establishment and day to day management of the Middle East & North African operations of a design & build contractor based in Dubai.
He is regularly instructed as an independent expert on project management and construction management performance matters, and as an independent expert on programming, delay and disruption matters.
Austin has submitted written evidence in adjudication, mediation, litigation and arbitration proceedings and has testified, including the provision of concurrent evidence (or ‘hot-tubbing’), in ICC, HKIAC, UNCITRAL, DIAC and LCIA arbitrations on numerous occasions.
In addition, Austin leads our Project Management/ Project Advisory Group and is regularly retained by both private and public sector clients to provide strategic development management, project management, construction management, and programme management advisory services on major capital investment projects/programmes.
