Blackrock Expert Services and IT Group join forces to deliver a broader range of high-quality services
Blackrock Expert Services will deliver integrated delay, quantum and technology expert services internationally.
The joining of two international leaders in their fields will bring significant service benefits to clients across construction and wider technology fields.
London, UK, 1 August 2018 – Blackrock Expert Services, the leading independent expert construction consultancy, today announces the acquisition of IT Group, the top independent provider of professional services for IT disputes, digital forensics and e-Disclosure. The combination will deliver high-quality expertise to clients and lawyers across construction and technology matters.
Blackrock Expert Services has a strong portfolio of high-profile contracts and a distinguished track record of working on iconic and complex construction projects around the world. The company has advised on projects in 50 countries, with a combined total contract value of over £150bn.
With technology taking an ever increasingly prominent role within all construction projects, and now with market-leading technology expertise in-house, this acquisition further enhances Blackrock’s market leading position to provide integrated consultancy services across the globe.
In addition, the market for Technology related expert services is continuing its rapid growth. IT Group has experience across software licensing, IT project management, cyber, data theft and system design and specification disputes. It is also highly skilled in data forensics and data management and offers this service across a range of litigation sectors. IT Group has operated internationally working for many leading insurers and law firms in the UK, US, EMEA and the Far East.
Sharing many clients and outstanding global reputations, both companies are delighted to be combining their extensive experience and expertise and believe this transaction will allow them to better integrate their service to their clients.
Giles Derry, CEO for Blackrock Expert Services, said “The shared ethos of quality, integrity and independence meant the two businesses were a natural fit together. The ever-increasing importance of technology in construction and the continued growth of technology, IP and data disputes means this will be an area where access to IT experts is essential. There is a scarcity of experienced IT experts in the market place. The combination is entirely consistent with our long-term strategy to provide excellence across a range of expert services.”
Tony Sykes, the founder and Senior Partner of IT Group, noted “IT Group has been involved in some of the world’s largest IT disputes, as well as disputes involving technology in construction projects. We are really excited about the opportunity to advise on Blackrock’s projects as well as continuing to offer technology dispute and forensic services to clients across the Group.”
Leading the acquisition for Blackrock Expert Services were Giles Derry (CEO) and Michael Cauter (COO), and for IT Group, Tony Sykes (Senior Partner) and Jason Coyne (Senior Partner).
